PDJ Review

PDJ Review (Portable DJ Device)

At a glance

The PDJ has a very simple setup so it only comes together with a set to charge it with and a standard USB. Basic plug & Play you would reckon?)
At a glance, the PDJ (portable dj) is quite small in size (you would reckon it would need to be bigger after learning about all its advance features). It has 6 knobs for selecting options and the main and mostly important que button and play button is placed below.

Everything else on this device is controlled by 2 high definition touch-screens on each side of the device. To set it up, you simply charge it first, slot music into an SD card from your computer and slot the SD into the PDJ!

A couple of the main features that I like the most;

Effects
The two middle effect knobs are to control the following effects; Phaser, flanger, delay, filter, roll, bit crusher and of course one to kill all the effects.

Equalizer
You can toggle between the different sliders by sliding the controllers up and down.

Musical Pad
You can play music samples which you can preload or create yourself on the device. Customize a sample by loading in WAW files straight into the device via a USB cable too!

Beat Sequencer
Create your own beat with the beat sequencer tool. You can basically touch the different squares and create your own beat!

Recording
You can record your mixes for up to 2 hours!

Final Verdict
The portability of the device is one of its biggest selling points - standing at 250 x 66 x 16.8  mm long  and weighing a mere of 286 g, it will fit nicely in any handbag (or even a jeanspocket). The quality of the touchscreen is better then a lot of handphones in the market - which makes it easy to navigate and toggle between the different screens and functions.
The PDJ is very powerful for its size, and it is easy to get into the different functionalities. The fact that you can record your own mixes on it so easily is great! I think anyone who is a music enthusiast would love to try out this device.

If you are interested in buying it,  you can email your order to thesoundcompany.sg@gmail.com!  The PDJ is currently retailing at S$599 in Singapore.

Island Get-away

Was lucky to be invited for a small Island getaway off Keppel At Marina Bay Singapore!
